The Republic of the Philippines is an island country located in the Pacific Ocean off the southeast coast of Asia. Though the country is located in Asia the Filipino culture has been greatly influenced by it s contact with Spain and the United States. After years of Spanish and American interference the country became more politically united, with a central democratic government. The country has had a turbulent experience while trying to create a stable government. Human trafficking has been a significant problem in the country, which the government has tried to address by expanding educational programs, offering support to victims, and prosecuting perpetrators. Our class could help in this important endeavor by educating people in remote areas about the dangers of human trafficking. The Republic of the Philippines is a country composed of 7,107 islands located off the southeast coast of Asia.
